Over $50,000 to be dispersed between community groups and sporting clubs in Livingstone

Over $50,000 will soon be dispersed across fourteen (14) not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs within Livingstone Shire, following Council endorsement yesterday.

Livingstone Shire Council Mayor, Andy Ireland, said The Livingstone Community Grants Scheme provides funding for not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs to deliver innovative projects and programmes that help improve overall community wellbeing.

“Thanks to Livingstone Shire Council and Mick Cranny Investments, groups had the opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 funding for a wide range of initiatives,” Mayor Ireland said.

Under this funding round, successful applicants included:

  • Sailability Capricornia
  • Cycling Without Age
  • Yeppoon Australian Football League (The Swans)
  • Yeppoon Senior Citizens
  • Cockscomb Veterans Retreat
  • Capricorn Coast Netball Association
  • Yeppoon Tennis Club
  • SeaQ Boardriders
  • Emu Park QCWA
  • Capricorn Coast Runners
  • Emu Park Lions Club
  • Yeppoon Rugby League (The Seagulls)
  • The Yeppoon Scouts Association
  • The Byfield and District Historical Society

Portfolio holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community, Councillor Pat Eastwood, said the purchase of commercial kitchen equipment, marquees, barbeques, tables, defibrillator, and shipping containers are just some items that will give these groups and the community alike, a much welcome boost.

“The next funding round will open in August,” Cr Eastwood said.
