Light Up Livingstone

The tradition of ‘Christmas Light Looking’ is a wonderful free activity providing families the opportunity to get together and take a tour around the Shire to discover a range of vibrant lights and displays. Livingstone Shire Council aims to support the tradition through an annual competition encouraging the community to embrace the festive spirit by decorating their homes and businesses in holiday themed displays.

Competition Key Dates:

  • 19 November – Entries open
  • 13 December – Entries close - Deadline to have displays ready
  • 14-15 December – Judging of Light Displays
  • 20 December – Winners announced

  • Residential - Terms & Conditions of Entry:

    • All displays must be ready and entries submitted online by Monday 13 December via the ‘Resident Entry Form’
    • Shortlisting will take place based on the photo/video content submitted on the online entry form – all entries MUST provide a photo/video to be considered 
    • Residents must ensure viewing of light displays/decorations can be done so safely 
    • Homes must be within Livingstone Shire 
    • Judging will take place on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 December 
    • There will be three judges (to be announced closer to the date)
    • Winners will be announced via Social Media on Monday 20 December 2021
    • Residents will be judged on following criteria:
      • Lighting display
      • Use of colour 
      • Window/Street appeal 
      • Interactive elements 
      • Innovative concepts 
    • One winner and one runner up will be selected as the prize winners (prizes to be announced closer to the date)


     

  • Businesses - Terms & Conditions of Entry:

    • All displays must be ready and entries submitted online by Monday 13 December via the ‘Business Entry Form’
    • Three categories based on shop frontage: 
      • Small – 0-5m shop/business frontage size 
      • Medium – 5-10m shop/business frontage size  
      • Large – over 10m shop/business frontage size  
    • Businesses to ensure viewing of light displays/decorations can be done so safely
    • Businesses must be based within Livingstone Shire 
    • Judging will take place on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 December 
    • There will be three judges (these will be announced closer to the date) 
    • Winners will be announced via Social Media on Monday 20 December 2021
    • Businesses will be judged on following criteria:

      • Use of colour
