Have your say on planned future trunk infrastructure in Livingstone Shire

Back

Livingstone Shire is inviting community feedback on amendments to Councils Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP), which outlines future transport, water and sewer networks, parks and community facilities to support the region’s growing population.

The LGIP is a part of Council’s planning scheme that identifies shared (trunk) infrastructure to service forecast growth for the next 15 years.

Councillor Wade Rothery, Co-Chair of the Development and Environment Committee, encourages the community to view the infrastructure plans to gain an understanding of the importance of coordinating urban growth with infrastructure planning.

“The amendments follow the five year review of councils LGIP,” Cr Rothery said.

“The work underpinning the Local Government Infrastructure Plan provides information about the trunk infrastructure necessary to service existing and future urban development, including project descriptions, estimated timing and costs.

“Livingstone Shire is experiencing rapid growth, and the LGIP is a key tool for Council to manage this expansion.”

The general effect of the LGIP Amendment will be an amended planning scheme which includes:

  • An amended planning scheme Part 4 - Local Government Infrastructure Plan.  This includes amended planning assumptions, an amended Priority Infrastructure Area, amended Desired Standards of Service for trunk infrastructure, and an amended Plans for Trunk Infrastructure.
  • An amended planning scheme Schedule 3 – Local Government Infrastructure Plan Mapping and Tables.  This includes amended planning assumptions tables, an amended schedule of works, and amended maps.

Details of the changes and how to make a properly made submission can be found on councils website: https://www.livingstone.qld.gov.au/homepage/104/planning-scheme-amendments

Documents will also be available for inspection or purchase at Council’s Customer Service Centres, located at 25 Normanby Street, Yeppoon, and 7 Hill Street, Emu Park.

Community consultation of the amendments open today and close on Friday 4th July 2025.
