A Safer, Stronger and More Reliable Crossing at the Doonside Bridge

Back

The project to replace the Doonside Bridge, at Yeppoon on the central Queensland coast, has been successfully completed, delivering a brand-new concrete bridge to replace the ageing timber structure.

Thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program, Livingstone Shire Council was able to move forward with a long-term solution—a new, durable concrete bridge designed to withstand environmental conditions and heavy vehicle loads.

The new bridge replaces a structure that had been underwater during past weather events and was significantly weakened over time.

With modern materials and engineering, this replacement ensures long-term resilience and reduces maintenance costs.
