Livingstone Shire Council was thrilled to officially welcome the region’s newest residents – its beautiful babies – at a heart-warming community celebration held today, Friday 16 May, at Yeppoon Town Hall.

The special event, part of National Families Week 2025, was a great success, with families from across the Shire coming together to share in the joy of new life and connection.

Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee, Councillor Andrea Friend, expressed her gratitude to all the families who participated.

“We were absolutely delighted to welcome so many local families and their little ones to this meaningful event,” Cr Friend said.

“These children represent the future of Livingstone Shire, and what an honour it has been to welcome them on this special occasion.”

Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee Councillor Lance Warcon said registrations for the event were booked out quickly, highlighting the strong community interest and support.

“This enthusiastic response is a fantastic indication that the welcome celebration is set to become a much-loved tradition in Livingstone’s community calendar,” Cr Warcon said.

“Families in attendance enjoyed presentations from early childhood experts, the opportunity to connect with fellow parents, and a warm, welcoming environment to mark this special milestone.”
