New Footpath Completed at Farnborough State School
Students, parents, and staff at Farnborough State School are now experiencing improved safety and accessibility with the completion of a new footpath.
This important upgrade was fully funded by the Queensland Government’s School Transport Infrastructure Program (STIP), with a $76,000 investment ensuring a more accessible and safer environment for the school community.
Mayor Adam Belot said the newly constructed pathway enhances pedestrian access between the school’s bus stop and pick-up/drop-off area is making it safer and easier for families during peak school travel times.
"We are committed to providing safe and efficient school transport infrastructure, and this 118-metre-long, 2-metre-wide concrete footpath is a great example of that commitment in action," Mayor Belot said.
"The new pathway will not only improve access for students and parents but also enhance overall safety around the school precinct."
Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton said the investment in improved safety for the school and general communities is money well spent.
“Partnerships such as this one benefit our entire community and offer a legacy to be used by generations to come,” Mr Hutton said.
“The Crisafulli Government is proud to support projects such as this all-weather infrastructure access for schools.”
The School Transport Infrastructure Program (STIP) aims to improve road safety and transport access at schools across Queensland, delivering targeted infrastructure improvements to support growing communities.
Infrastructure Committee Co-Chair Rhodes Watson said Farnborough State School families can now enjoy a safer, more convenient journey to and from school, thanks to this latest investment in local infrastructure.
“We know how important pedestrian safety is, especially for students and families during pick up and drop off times, so this is a very welcome investment from the Queensland Government, and we thank them for their commitment,” Cr Watson said.
