Livingstone Shire Council is excited to announce the opening of nominations for the 2025 Australia Day Awards, celebrating the dedication, service, and achievements of those who make our community a wonderful place to live.

This year, new award categories have been introduced, including Business, Innovation, and Corporate Social Responsibility, as well as Rural and Agriculture, and Environment to ensure an inclusive contribution from across our diverse region.

Nominations are open until midnight on Sunday, 15 December 2024, giving community members the opportunity to nominate individuals and groups whose efforts have inspired them or made a positive impact.

Livingstone Shire Mayor, Cr Adam Belot, emphasised the importance of recognising those who selflessly contribute to their community in a number of ways.

“These awards are our way of showing appreciation for the many people who go above and beyond to strengthen our community, whether through volunteer work, innovation in business, sporting dedication, or the arts,” Mayor Belot said.

“I encourage everyone to nominate someone they admire and help us celebrate the true spirit of Livingstone Shire.”

Australia Day Awards Committee Chairperson, Cr Andrea Friend, urged residents to reflect on those who have made a difference in the past year.

“We all know someone whose hard work and kindness make our Shire a better place. Whether it’s a neighbour, a local business, or a young person making a difference, now is the time to recognise and thank them for their efforts,” Cr Friend said.

“By nominating them for an award, we can show them how much they are valued.”

Committee Member, Cr Lance Warcon, highlighted the diversity of achievements across the Shire and encouraged everyone to take part in the nominations process.

“These awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the wide range of contributions that make our Shire so unique and vibrant,” Cr Warcon said.

“From rural champions to cultural icons and young innovators, this is our chance to celebrate the people and groups who create lasting positive impacts in Livingstone.”
