Livingstone Shire Council Invites community feedback on future planning for Barmaryee Multisport Precinct

Livingstone Shire Council is inviting residents to have their say on the future direction and expansion of the Barmaryee Multisport Precinct.

Officially opened to the public in 2017, the Barmaryee Multisport Precinct is a popular and well frequented Council facility, home to many sporting groups and host to a range of events, competitions, and other activities each year.

The precinct currently caters for the region's touch football, junior rugby league and school aged netball competitions.

In addition, Council has been approached by additional groups who have expressed an interest in relocating to the Barmaryee Multisport Precinct in the near future.

A Council spokesperson said the community’s feedback would help to inform the priorities for the future requirements of the precinct and support the needs of our growing and changing sporting community.

“It’s important for us to carefully plan for growth at the Barmaryee Multisport Precinct to ensure existing groups are accommodated and have options to expand, while new opportunities are also made available for other sports or clubs,” the spokesperson said.

“Council needs to be appropriately informed about the requirements of the sporting groups that use the precinct to seek external funding and, where possible, allocate internal budget to accommodate the growing needs of the Barmaryee Multisport Precinct in coming years.”

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the feedback process by completing the online survey available on Council’s website.

Council welcomes all contributions and encourages everyone to have their say before the deadline for feedback on 31 March 2024.

Paper copies of the survey and all relevant information will be made available at all Council Libraries and Customer Support Centres. The survey results will be presented to Council at a briefing session in May.
