Nominate a Sustainability Superstar!

Back
Livingstone Shire Council wants to hear about all the great work residents, businesses, and groups are doing to create a more sustainable future.

In the lead up to the Sustainable Livingstone Expo on 3 October, Council is asking residents to nominate a Sustainability Superstar in their lives – from worm farmers to second-hand shoppers and everyone in between!

People are being encouraged to nominate via Facebook to help inspire behaviour change in the broader community. Businesses, individuals and households, schools, community groups, and more are all eligible.

Councillor Andrea Friend, Portfolio holder of Water, Waste Management and the Environment, said the Sustainability Superstar campaign was a great way to give people new ideas about how they can live more sustainably.

“We have so many community members doing the right thing and being more sustainable every day. Businesses, schools, and residents are all helping to create a more sustainable community,” Cr Friend said.

“The Sustainability Superstar campaign will be an opportunity to recognise those undertaking sustainable practices but because we’re asking people to nominate via Facebook, it will also give the broader community new tips and tricks that they can use.”

Winners will be drawn at random at the Sustainable Livingstone Expo and will receive a prize pack of locally sourced sustainable products.

“Here at Livingstone Shire Council we know that every step towards a more sustainable life, big or small, is critical. For that reason, we won’t be judging nominations. Instead, every nomination has an equal chance of being drawn,” Cr Friend said.

Head to Council’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/livingstoneshirecouncil, find the Sustainability Superstar post, and nominate someone today to put them in the draw.
