We’re looking for an accomplished and capable leader to head our Development Assessment Team in delivering fast, responsive, and legally compliant statutory planning services. As Coordinator Development Assessment, you’ll play a key role in guiding complex planning assessments, aligning operations with strategic goals, and driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead from the front by overseeing complex planning assessments and ensuring consistent, high-quality decision-making.
  • Champion innovation in processes and systems to enhance our service delivery.
  • Develop talent by coaching and building capability within the Development Assessment team.
  • Navigate complexity—from regulatory frameworks to community expectations—with professionalism and clarity.
  • Collaborate strategically across the organisation to ensure policy alignment and proactive planning responses.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, and/or extensive experience in a similar regulatory or statutory planning role.
  • Proven leadership in a local government or statutory planning environment, including team management and handling complex development matters.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning enforcement and legal proceedings, including preparation of documentation and engagement with legal professionals.
  • A strong understanding of planning legislation and the ability to confidently operate in political, legal, and community-facing contexts.
  • Proficiency in council systems and planning-related software.
