Donations

Livingstone Shire Council recognises the important contribution community organisations and individuals make to the safety, health, equity, vibrancy and inclusiveness of their communities.

Livingstone Shire Council provides donations to support individuals and community organisations whose requests do not meet the eligibility criteria of Council’s existing funding programs, including:

If a request isn’t eligible under those programs, it may be eligible for a Council donation.

Examples of donation requests
  • Trophies or awards
  • Contributions to charity operations
  • Travel or equipment for individuals representing their club outside the Shire
  • Community waste vouchers for eligible community groups

The level of assistance available is limited by Council’s budgetary allocation which is set each financial year for both monetary and non-monetary donation requests.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility depends on which category you are applying under.
Please review the criteria listed in the relevant category below.

Category 1 – Schools (Awards Only)

  • For awards recognising students enrolled in schools within Livingstone Shire
  • Maximum: $250 per school per year

Category 2 – Groups and/or Organisations

To be eligible, organisations must:
a. Deliver services or activities that benefit Livingstone Shire residents
b. Be ineligible for other Council funding programs listed here
c. Align with the Livingstone Community Plan
d. Have no outstanding payments owed to Council

In addition, depending on the type of request, organisations must meet the relevant criteria below.

General Donations
  • Evidence of attempts to raise funds from other sources
  • Maximum request: $1,000 per group per year
Land Use Support
  • Organisation must be undertaking land use planning or development activity
  • Funding must directly support this work
  • Maximum request: $2,000 per group per year (reimbursed based on invoice)
Community Waste Vouchers
  • Only available to incorporated community groups (not individuals)
  • Group activities must generate excess waste requiring disposal at Council waste facilities
  • Maximum request: 5 vouchers per group per year
  • One application per year

Category 3 – Individuals (Excellence in Sport, Academics or the Arts)

Eligible individuals must:
a. Be a resident of Livingstone Shire
b. Be ineligible for any Community Assistance Program funding listed here
c. Demonstrate alignment to the Community Plan goals
d. Have been selected to represent Livingstone, Queensland, or Australia in a recognised championship, competition, showcase, exhibition, or training opportunity
e. Demonstrate efforts to raise funds from other sources
f. Have no outstanding payments owed to Council

Maximum donation requests:
  • Travel or equipment within Queensland: $150
  • Travel or equipment outside Queensland, within Australia: $250
  •  International travel or equipment: $350

Ineligible Requests

Council donations will not be provided for:

  • Commercial businesses or organisations
  • Government departments or agencies
  • Food and beverage purchases
  • Masters Games competitors (self-nominated events)
  • Events or competitions held within Livingstone Shire
  • Part or all of Council rates, fees, or charges (Exception: Community waste vouchers for eligible community groups only)
  • Individuals applying for community waste vouchers (groups only)

Assessment Process

Applications will be assessed by officers using the relevant financial delegations structure (Manager/General Manager/Council). 

Notification

Applicants will be notified within forty-eight hours (48hrs) that their application has been received and the expected timeline for a decision.
