Northern Suburbs Growth Corridor

Livingstone Shire Council is seeking $4.5 million in funding to deliver a Specific Infrastructure Planning Project for the Northern Suburbs Growth Corridor, laying the foundation for long-term growth in the region’s northern corridor.

The project will progress detailed planning, design and approvals for future water and sewer infrastructure, including a scalable sewage treatment plant and concept design for a future water treatment plant. This essential groundwork will support the responsible development of the next major growth area in Livingstone Shire.

Over time, the Northern Corridor has the capacity to support more than 20,000 residents, making it a critical part of the region’s future housing supply and economic growth. Delivering enabling infrastructure early will help ensure growth is managed sustainably, efficiently and in a coordinated way.

The project also builds on Council’s agreement with Sunwater to secure long-term water supply from Rookwood Weir, strengthening water security for the region, reducing reliance on Rockhampton, and supporting future communities as the population grows.

This initiative is about planning responsibly, investing early, and ensuring Livingstone remains a connected, liveable and prosperous region for current and future generations.
