East West Connector
The East West Connector is a major transport infrastructure project that will improve connectivity across Livingstone Shire, linking the Hidden Valley precinct with the Capricorn Coast's key business, residential and tourism areas.
The project will provide a more efficient east-west transport connection, helping to reduce travel times and congestion, improve road safety and support the delivery of new housing and employment opportunities.
The project is being delivered in stages, with $25 million in Queensland Government funding secured for Stage 1 through the Residential Activation Fund. This funding will help unlock access to more than 1,500 new residential lots in the Hidden Valley precinct.
Why is it important?
Livingstone's rapid growth is increasing demand for housing, employment, services and infrastructure. The East West Connector is an important piece of infrastructure that will help support this growth by improving access between residential areas, business and industry precincts and key tourism destinations.
The project will also help create the transport infrastructure needed to support future development and investment across the Shire.
Project at a glance
Location
The East West Connector will connect the Hidden Valley precinct with the Capricorn Coast, linking to Yeppoon Road and the Rosslyn Bay area.
Delivery
The project will be delivered in multiple stages.
Stage 1
$25 million Queensland Government funding will support the first stage, including the Neils Road intersection, The Gateway and the first section of the connection into Hidden Valley.
Stage 2
Future stages will continue the connection, including linking Tanby Road and Rockhampton–Yeppoon Road to support future development and help reduce traffic congestion.
Estimated total investment
Approximately $300 million across multiple stages.
