YTH Air-Conditioning Upgrade to Deliver Greater Comfort for Community
Published on 13 April 2026
Livingstone Shire Council is pleased to announce a major upgrade to the air-conditioning system at Yeppoon Town Hall, set to significantly improve comfort for community groups, event organisers and visitors who regularly use the much-loved facility.
The upgrade will ensure the Town Hall remains a welcoming, functional, and enjoyable space year-round, supporting everything from community meetings and performances to private functions and large-scale events.
To enable these important works to be carried out safely and efficiently, Yeppoon Town Hall will be temporarily closed from Monday 20 April and is expected to remain in place for nine weeks, with all Customer Support Front Counter services relocating to the Ground Floor of The Hub during this period.
Mayor Adam Belot said the investment reflects Council’s commitment to maintaining high-quality community infrastructure.
“Yeppoon Town Hall is a vital community asset that hosts a wide range of events and activities throughout the year,” Mayor Belot said.
“This air-conditioning upgrade will greatly enhance the experience for everyone who uses the space — from local community groups and performers to event organisers and attendees — ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable environment, particularly during the warmer months.
“We thank the public and our valued community groups for their patience and understanding while these important works get underway.
“Where possible, Council is working with not-for-profit groups to find alternative venues to ensure the important events and programs they deliver can continue during this period.
“Once complete, the upgraded system will provide more reliable and efficient climate control, supporting the continued use of Yeppoon Town Hall as a premier venue for the region.”
During the closure period, all front counter operations will continue uninterrupted from The Hub, ensuring residents can still access essential Council services.
The project is expected to be completed by 19 June 2026, however timelines remain subject to change depending on construction progress. Updates will be provided should there be any extension to the works.
