Shop Here This Year – Buy Local Campaign Launches
Published on 20 November 2025
Livingstone Shire Council is encouraging residents to “Shop Here This Year” and show their support for local businesses through the Buy Local Livingstone campaign, which opens Monday, 24 November 2025.
The campaign aims to inspire the community to get behind local retailers, service providers, and hospitality venues in the lead-up to Christmas and throughout the busy summer season.
Mayor Adam Belot said by shopping local, residents can help drive foot traffic, boost local sales, and strengthen community-business connections across the Capricorn Coast.
“As part of the campaign, shoppers will have the chance to enter a Buy Local Prize Draw for their opportunity to win a great prize proudly sponsored by Yeppoon Small Motors,” Mayor Belot said.
To enter, customers simply need to:
- Make a purchase at any registered local business.
- Upload a clear photo of their receipt showing the business name and date.
- Complete a short entry form with their contact details and the business they supported.
Mayor Adam Belot added that the campaign was a great reminder that every purchase made locally makes a real difference.
“When we shop local, we’re not just buying a product – we’re supporting our neighbours, helping local families thrive, and keeping money circulating within our community,” Mayor Belot said.
“Whether it’s grabbing your morning coffee, picking up gifts, or booking local services – every dollar spent here helps build a stronger, more resilient Livingstone economy. This festive season, let’s get the most on the Capricorn Coast and shop here this year.
“Residents can also support local businesses in simple but meaningful ways – by liking and sharing their social media posts, leaving positive reviews, tagging them online, and, most importantly, shopping locally whenever they can.
“The campaign will also feature a new Buy Local video, showcasing the unique charm of Yeppoon and Emu Park, coastal lifestyle, and thriving local businesses.
“The video will also be used for future initiatives, including end-of-financial-year promotions and next year’s Christmas season.
“Livingstone Shire Council would like to thank Yeppoon Small Motors for their ongoing partnership and generous support of local business initiatives that help strengthen the region’s economy and community spirit,” Mayor Belot said.
Council is encouraging businesses to get involved by promoting the campaign in-store and online using hashtags such as #BuyLocalLivingstone, #BuyLocalCapricornCoast, and #ShopHereThisYear.
The campaign opens Monday, 24 November 2025 and will run until 5 January 2026.
