Livingstone Shire Council is inviting women and girls from across the region to attend She Means Business – An Empowering High Tea for Future Ready Women on Friday 6 March 2026 from 9am to 11:30am.

Mayor Adam Belot said the interactive networking and professional development event is designed to strengthen the economic security, confidence and financial capability of women and girls in Livingstone Shire.

“Held in a welcoming high tea environment, the event will bring together inspiring speakers, practical insights, and meaningful connections,” Mayor Belot said.

“Women are encouraged to bring along friends or attend solo and connect with others in a supportive and inclusive space.”

Recreation and Culture portfolio co-lead, Councillor Andrea Friend, who will also be opening the event, said She Means Business was about equipping women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their financial futures.

“This event is about empowering women at every stage of life — whether you’re a student, early-career professional, business owner, parent returning to the workforce, or simply wanting to better understand your financial future,” Cr Friend said.

“We know that economic conditions, workforce changes and financial systems can sometimes feel overwhelming. She Means Business will break down those topics into practical, real-world conversations that women can relate to and apply in their everyday lives.”

Participants will hear from expert speakers on key topics including understanding regional economic conditions and what changes in GDP mean for households, the evolving roles of women in the workplace, and practical strategies to improve long-term financial outcomes — including addressing the gender retirement gap through superannuation education.

“We want women in Livingstone Shire to feel confident asking questions, seeking advice and taking control of their financial wellbeing,” Cr Friend said.

“By creating a space for learning, connection and open discussion, we are helping women build both capability and confidence — two critical foundations for economic security.”

Leading the speaker line-up is Lucy Tomkins, founder of Lucy Tomkins Coaching and Educate Us. A powerful coach and keynote speaker, Lucy specialises in confidence-building, nervous system regulation and personal empowerment.

For more than five years, she has supported thousands of women worldwide — many in high-pressure careers and leadership roles — to reconnect with their strengths and step into opportunity with clarity and self-belief. “Lucy brings a voice of compassionate empowerment to this event,” Cr Friend said.

“Her message is about helping women walk into rooms with their heads held high, unburdened by past doubts, and ready to pursue big goals. We are incredibly excited to have her share her lived experience and practical tools with our community.”

Joining Lucy will be economist and strategic advisor Katrina Patterson, who will provide insight into national and regional economic conditions and workforce trends, and Megan Ashenden, a Superannuation Education Specialist with nearly 15 years’ experience who is known for making complex financial topics clear, relatable, and actionable.

Attendees will gain practical knowledge on building financial capability and confidence, understanding economic conditions, navigating changing workforce trends, superannuation made simple, and accessing professional and online safety resources.

The event is supported by the Queensland Government through the Empowering Queensland Women grant fund.

Women and girls across Livingstone Shire are encouraged to secure their place and be part of this empowering morning of connection, knowledge, and inspiration.
