New CCTV network enhances safety in Yeppoon town centre

Safety in Yeppoon's town centre has received a boost with the completion of a new CCTV network along James Street, jointly funded by Livingstone Shire Council and the Queensland Government through the Secure Communities Partnerships Program.

The project delivered three new multi-head CCTV cameras at key locations throughout the precinct.

Mayor Adam Belot said the project would help strengthen community safety and support local businesses.

"James Street is the heart of our town centre, and this investment will help ensure it remains a safe and welcoming place for residents, visitors and businesses,” Mayor Belot said.

"We're grateful for the Queensland Government's support in delivering this important community safety initiative."

Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minikin said we are making Yeppoon safer by partnering with council to protect local small and family businesses.

“Small and family businesses deserve to operate in environments where owners, staff and customers feel safe and supported", Minister Minikin said.

“The Queensland Government is working with Livingstone Shire Council to implement critical safety upgrades that deter crime and protect local small and family businesses.” 

“By investing in projects like this, we’re fostering safer, more connected communities where small businesses can flourish.” 

Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton said the project was a positive outcome for the region.

"This partnership between the Queensland Government and Livingstone Shire Council has delivered important infrastructure that will help protect local businesses and visitors,” Mr Hutton said.

The $53,045 project was funded through a 50:50 partnership between Livingstone Shire Council and the Queensland Government, with the State contributing $26,522.50 through the Secure Communities Partnerships Program.
