Livingstone Shire Council CEO Announces Resignation

Livingstone Shire Council confirms that Chief Executive Officer Terry Dodds PSM has advised of his decision to resign.

Council acknowledges and sincerely thanks Mr Dodds for his leadership, professionalism, and valuable contributions throughout his tenure. Under his guidance, the organisation has made significant strides in performance and accountability, including the implementation of the Monthly Operational Report (MOR) and the establishment of a new Strategic Growth Directorate to better position Council for the future.

Mayor Adam Belot said Mr Dodds was widely respected by staff for his collaborative and consultative leadership style.

“We are grateful for Terry’s efforts in guiding the organisation through a period of growth and cultural change. His commitment to good governance, open communication, and organisational improvement has laid important foundations for Council’s future,” Mayor Belot said.

To ensure leadership continuity and maintain operational stability, Council resolved the following:

1. Mayor is authorised to negotiate appropriate separation arrangements and confirm an agreed departure date with Mr Dodds.
2. Council will re-engage Mr Alastair Dawson as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Mr Dawson brings extensive local government experience and previously served in this capacity during a prior transition.
3. Council authorises the Mayor to appoint a member of the current Executive Leadership Team to act as CEO in the interim period until Mr Dawson’s commencement.
4. Council will develop and consider a formal recruitment strategy for the permanent CEO role, to be presented by the Mayor for approval.
