Community groups and sporting clubs across the region are encouraged to apply for the latest round of the Livingstone Shire Council and Bendigo Community Bank Community Grants Scheme, now open.

Delivered in partnership with Bendigo Community Bank, the program supports innovative local projects and initiatives that build capacity, strengthen resilience, and respond to community needs across the Livingstone Shire.

Mayor Adam Belot said Council was proud to back the volunteer-driven clubs and organisations that form the backbone of the region.

“Our community groups, sporting clubs and cultural organisations are the heart and soul of Livingstone Shire,” Mayor Belot said.

“They are the backbone of what makes our region such a great place to live and work, contributing to our wonderful lifestyle and the strong community bonds formed here.

“Most of these organisations are volunteer-based, powered by passionate locals who generously give their time to create opportunities for others — whether that’s on the sporting field, in the arts, through environmental initiatives or community service programs.

“This grants scheme is about supporting those grassroots efforts and ensuring our local clubs can continue to grow, adapt and meet the needs of our community.”

Bendigo Community Bank Chairperson, Andrew Morris said the Livingstone Shire Council and Bendigo Community Bank Community Grants program is a fantastic way to empower local organisations and bring their ideas to life.

“By supporting these community-driven initiatives, we’re helping to create lasting benefits for the entire region. We’re proud to be part of this partnership that strengthens the Capricorn Coast community,” Mr Morris said.

Recreation and Culture Portfolio Co-Lead, Councillor Lance Warcon, said the diversity of previous grant recipients demonstrated the far-reaching impact of the program.

“We’ve seen firsthand the incredible outcomes that can be achieved through this partnership,” Cr Warcon said.

“From accessibility improvements and safety upgrades to new equipment and facility enhancements, these grants help local groups deliver practical projects that make a real difference.

“Whether it’s supporting inclusive programs like dance for people living with Parkinson’s, improving community facilities, strengthening emergency response capabilities, or enhancing sporting infrastructure, the ripple effect of these projects is felt right across the Shire.”

Recent projects delivered through the program include:

• Materials to support a Dance for Parkinson’s program

• Installation of secure gate systems at local sporting facilities

• Replacement of audience seating at a community theatre

• Construction of a wheelchair accessible pathway at a wildlife rehabilitation facility

• Purchase of lifesaving equipment including defibrillators and first aid kits

• Facility upgrades to improve safety and accessibility

• Equipment to support environmental education and conservation activities

• Community infrastructure improvements at local halls and gathering spaces

Eligible not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs operating within the Livingstone Shire Local Government Area are encouraged to apply. Projects must benefit residents, enhance overall community wellbeing, and align with the Livingstone Shire Community Plan.

Mayor Belot said Council looked forward to seeing another round of inspiring local initiatives come to life.

“Our volunteers and community leaders do important and valuable work in so many different ways,” he said.

“This program is one of the ways we can say thank you — by investing in their ideas and helping them continue to strengthen our vibrant, connected community.”
