Free Fun for Everyone These School Holidays!
Published on 10 June 2026
Families across the region are invited to make the most of the upcoming June-July school holidays, with a jam-packed calendar of free activities and events on offer throughout Livingstone Shire.
From creative workshops and family fun days to movies, music, cultural celebrations and youth events, there is something for children and young people of all ages to enjoy.
Mayor Adam Belot said Council was proud to deliver a diverse range of activities designed to keep young people engaged, active and connected during the school break.
“The school holidays are a fantastic opportunity for families to spend quality time together, try something new and connect with their community,” Mayor Belot said.
“We've put together an exciting program featuring everything from arts and crafts and cooking workshops to outdoor adventures, live entertainment and cultural celebrations – and best of all, every activity is free to attend.”
Mayor Belot added that young people could burn off some energy at the action-packed Inflatable Play sessions, show off their skate skills at Beats at the Bowl, enjoy Disney Music Bingo and dancing with friends, or explore the beautiful natural environment of Byfield during our Waterpark Eco Farm Tour.
"Council is also once again proud to support and celebrate NAIDOC Week through a range of community events that provide opportunities for families to come together, learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through storytelling, performances, cultural activities and community connection."
Recreation and Culture Portfolio Co-Lead, Councillor Andrea Friend, said one of the exciting additions to this year's program is the brand-new Kids Neon Disco, which promises to light up the school holidays with UV body art, glowing accessories, dance-offs, games, music, and roving performers.
“It's set to be a fantastic, high-energy event where kids can get creative, dress up in their brightest colours and enjoy a truly memorable night out,” Cr Friend said.
"We're also thrilled to introduce the new Carnivale Dreamscape Kids Festival, where young imaginations can run wild through interactive creative stations, magical experiences, colourful performances and hands-on activities. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to create, explore and be inspired in a fun and welcoming environment."
Families can also enjoy the ever-popular Tides and Tunes performances at the Yeppoon Foreshore Amphitheatre, showcasing talented local musicians across three weekends from Friday 26 June to Sunday 12 July.
Young performers are also encouraged to start preparing for the return of Livingstone's Got Talent, which is back for its second year in 2026.
“From singing and dancing to comedy, magic and more, the competition offers a category for every aspiring entertainer,” Cr Friend said.
"Livingstone's Got Talent was a huge success in its inaugural year, and we're excited to see even more local talent take to the stage in 2026.”
Applications open on 1 July and close on 30 August, with auditions taking place on 20 September and finalists competing in the Grand Final on 4 October.
While all activities and events are free to attend, some sessions require advance registration through Humanitix due to limited places.
Residents are encouraged to view the full program, check event details, and secure their bookings early via Council's online event calendar.
