Connecting and Celebrating Livingstone Seniors

Livingstone Shire’s seniors are invited to come together and celebrate the Seniors Week 2026 through a range of welcoming, inclusive and accessible experiences.

This year’s week of events will run from Friday 14 August until Friday 21 August, kicking off with a launch at Council’s iCare Community Lunch at the Community Centre gardens.

Mayor Belot said Seniors Week encourages people to stay active, social, and connected while recognising the valuable contributions seniors make to our community.

“Connect and Celebrate is the theme of this year’s event reflecting the valuable contribution and stewardship seniors provide in our community, and the important role they play in the lives of their families and friends,” Mayor Belot said.

“Our seniors are often ‘the glue’ in our community, whether as workers, volunteers, community leaders, carers, grandparents, neighbours, advocates, or simply great friends.”

Recreation and Culture Portfolio Co-Lead, Councillor Andrea Friend, said Seniors Week offers a wide range of activities and events that are free or low-cost, encouraging participation amongst all residents.

“From ‘come and try’ sessions for scrabble, ukulele, Tai Chi or recorder to Indoor Bowls, Trishaw Rides and seniors’ health information, there is a smorgasbord of events to choose from,” Cr Friend said.

“The week will conclude with the annual Oak Tree Seniors Expo in Merv Anderson Park, Yeppoon where seniors can come along and check out all the products and services available from exhibitors.

“Prize draws will be on offer at the Expo so remember to grab your free entry ticket!

“We encourage all Livingstone’s seniors to take part in the activities on offer this Seniors Week and celebrate their role as active and valuable members of our community.

“Council would like to thank all of the agencies, service providers, community groups and organisations who help to make this week of events possible and we look forward to celebrating with our local seniors.”
