Livingstone Shire Council and the Emu Park RSL Sub Branch are inviting community members to an information session to learn more about the Stage 4 extension of the Emu Park Centenary of ANZAC Memorial Walkway Project.

The session will be held at the Emu Park RSL on Saturday 29 November 2025 from 9.30am, with Livingstone Shire Mayor Adam Belot, Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton, RSL Central Queensland District Deputy President Barry Vains, Bill Gannon, and representatives from Janes and Stewart Structural and Civil Consultants in attendance to present details and answer questions about the project.

Stage 4 will complete the original Master Plan by extending the boardwalk north to Peace Park and creating new pedestrian links back into the town centre, enhancing connections between community, coastline, and heritage.

Mayor Adam Belot said Stage 4 represents the final link in the vision that began more than a decade ago.

“The Emu Park ANZAC Memorial Walkway is one of the most iconic and meaningful landmarks on the Capricorn Coast,” Mayor Belot said.

“Stage 4 will complete that vision, connecting Peace Park with the town centre and further strengthening the cultural, commemorative, and coastal character of Emu Park.”

Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton said the project demonstrates the community’s dedication to preserving and enhancing local heritage.

“This next stage is a celebration of community partnership and remembrance,” Mr Hutton said.

“It will deliver lasting benefits for residents, visitors, and future generations while honouring the ANZAC legacy.”

RSL Central Queensland District Deputy President Barry Vains and Emu Park RSL member said the League was proud to lead the charge in keeping the project’s vision alive.

“This has been a true community effort,” Mr Vains said.

“With support from the Bendigo Community Bank, Council, and our local members, we’ve brought Stage 4 to a shovel-ready stage and are now focused on securing funding to bring it to life.”

Following advocacy from the Emu Park RSL, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Livingstone Shire Council in January 2025, setting out the pathway for project delivery. Under the MOU, the RSL committed to progressing Stage 4 to a shovel-ready stage and successfully raised $60,000 — with the generous support of the Bendigo Community Bank ($25,000) and the RSL Central Queensland District ($10,000) — to prepare the concept design and cost estimate package, which Council approved in October 2025.

Under the MOU, the Emu Park RSL Sub Branch will now lobby State and Federal Governments to secure construction funding. Once funding is secured, Council will manage the tendering and delivery of the project.

Residents are encouraged to attend the information session to view the concept plans and hear directly from those driving the project forward.
