Community Invited to Get Their Hands Dirty This Sunday

Livingstone Shire residents are being reminded to grab a hat, roll up their sleeves and join hundreds of volunteers across the country this Sunday for National Tree Day at Emily Morgan Park, Mulambin.
The free community planting event will take place from 9am to 12pm at the southern end of Mulambin Beach, where participants will help restore valuable coastal vegetation while making a lasting contribution to the local environment.
Mayor Adam Belot said National Tree Day was a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to give back to the environment while enjoying a morning outdoors with family, friends and fellow community members.
"Whether you're a seasoned gardener or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend your Sunday morning, everyone is welcome," Mayor Belot said.
"Every tree planted helps strengthen our coastline, supports native wildlife and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations.
"National Tree Day is one of Australia's largest community environmental events, and it's wonderful to see our community come together each year to care for the places we all love."
Council will provide plants, tools and guidance on the day, with volunteers encouraged to wear enclosed shoes, sun-safe clothing and bring a reusable water bottle.
The planting forms part of Council's ongoing commitment to enhancing and protecting Livingstone Shire's natural environment through community-led conservation initiatives.
Residents are reminded to allow for additional travel time due to the Yeppoon Running Festival taking place. Community are also encouraged to register online before the event, although registrations will also be accepted on the day.
