Clayton Road Footpath Project Stage 1 Kicks Off
Published on 10 October 2025
Livingstone Shire Council will begin Stage 1 of the Clayton Road Footpath Project on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, enhancing safety and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists in the Lammermoor Beach area.
The project includes upgrades to pathways, pedestrian crossings, a footbridge, and the watermain, improving accessibility and efficiency for all road users. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, follow detours and signage, and allow extra travel time during the works.
Mayor Adam Belot said the upgrades reflect Council’s commitment to safer, more reliable infrastructure for the growing community.
"This project is about making Clayton Road safer and more accessible for everyone, whether you’re walking, cycling, or driving," Mayor Belot said.
"Once complete, these upgrades will not only make travel easier for residents but also support our growing community."
Councillor Rhodes Watson, Infrastructure Portfolio Co-Lead, said Stage 1 will significantly improve pedestrian safety and connectivity, particularly at the southern end of Lammermoor Beach.
"Stage 1 of the Clayton Road project, from Scenic Highway to Evelyn Street, will deliver new concrete pathways, upgraded kerb and channel, a fresh asphalt surface, and improvements to medians and refuge crossings," Cr Watson said.
"We are committed to delivering these upgrades efficiently, with minimal disruption, and we thank the community for their patience as these important improvements are made."
