Livingstone Shire Council is inviting local business owners, operators, and entrepreneurs to come together for an evening of connection, collaboration, and conversation at Leading Local – Building the Future of Small Business.

Held as part of Queensland Small Business Month 2026, the free event will take place on Thursday, 14 May at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club, offering a relaxed and welcoming environment for businesses of all sizes and sectors.

The event is designed to strengthen local networks and foster meaningful discussion around how collaboration can support a thriving and sustainable business community across the Capricorn Coast and broader Livingstone Shire.

Mayor Adam Belot said the event highlights the important role local businesses play in shaping the region’s future.

“More and more people are choosing Livingstone Shire as a place to call home and to do business, and Council is proactively responding to the challenges and opportunities that come with that growth,” Mayor Belot said.

“Our role is to plan for our communities in a way that ensures we can accommodate this growth while maintaining the lifestyle that makes our region so special.

“Events like this are important because they bring our business community together to be part of that journey—sharing ideas, building connections and helping shape a strong and sustainable future for our region.”

Mayor Belot said collaboration between businesses is key to unlocking new opportunities and strengthening the local economy.

“I encourage all businesses across all sectors to come along, share their experiences and ideas, and be part of the conversation about our region’s strong potential,” Mayor Belot said.

The evening will begin with a short welcome from the Mayor, followed by an informal panel discussion featuring respected local business and community leaders.

Guest speakers will include:

Natalie Gesler – Principal Sales Agent of @Real Estate and leads the T@ble Capricorn Coast Business Community

Tash and Ben Toohey – Directors of Lyke Homes

Michael Polinghorne – Capricornia Chamber of Commerce representative and Small Business Specialist Esdale Sinclair & Associates

The focus will be on open conversation, practical insights, and shared experiences, before moving into a networking session.

This Queensland Small Business Month event is proudly supported by the Queensland Government.

Light refreshments will be provided.
