Living Waters Lutheran Church

Next date: Sunday, 04 October 2026 | 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

• Provide church services for Lutherans in the Yeppoon area
• Share the love of God and the message taught by Jesus as captured in the New Testament
• Help support the local community in times of need
• Share God's love through practical means, such as feeding the hungry and caring for those in need.

HISTORY

The church has operated for more than forty years and is the only Lutheran church in the Yeppoon area. Rev Don McCall comes to Yeppoon to officiate at services after leading services at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rockhampton.

The congregation has met in various venues over the years, and has been meeting at the Community Centre for the last 10 years.

A group of Lutherans migrated from Germany to South Australia in 1838 and immediately began work among indigenous Australians.

DETAILS

Services are held each Sunday starting at 11:30am. People are welcome to arrive at 11 for a "cuppa" prior to the service.

The gathering is held in Room C.

The service consists of prayers, hymns, readings from scripture (from the Old and New Testaments, the Psalms, and the Gospels), and a short sermon.

A free-will offering is taken which supports the work of the church both locally and through missions.

PEOPLE

Approximately 10-12 people attend services each week.

Both women and men attend in relatively even numbers.

Several of the members have been Lutherans all their lives and joined the Living Waters congregation from the time they arrived in the Yeppoon area.

New people are welcome at services and to church-related activities.

MORE

• Living Waters is in the Queensland District of the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA). Districts elect officers, including a bishop. The Convention of General Synod, made up of member churches in Australia and New Zealand, meets tri-annually and also elects a Board and a bishop.
• The LCA uses the tagline "Where love comes to life", as they want people to "see the love, grace, forgiveness and compassion of Jesus Christ coming to them through every place and every person in our church."
