Livingstone Shire Council is continuing its commitment to community engagement, with Councillors and the Chief Executive Officer recently visiting Stanage Bay to meet with residents and discuss local issues impacting community well-being and development.
Mayor Adam Belot, along with Councillors Mather and Warcon, and Interim CEO Alastair Dawson, engaged directly with the local community to hear their views and identify opportunities to improve services and support.
Mayor Belot said the visit highlighted the resilience and self-reliance of the Stanage Bay community.
“Our community up in Stanage Bay shared a range of local priorities, and we really thank them for their attendance and contribution,” Mayor Belot said.
“Some of these suggestions included improving road and creek crossings, reducing speed limits entering the town to improve safety, tree pruning, town signage and more!”
Residents also expressed interest in a new model for service delivery and community activation in Stanage Bay. Council is now exploring a self-reliance model, similar to what is operating in Ogmore, which could provide local coordination and minor service delivery, while reducing the logistical challenges and costs of remote maintenance.
“This visit reaffirmed the strength and resilience of the Stanage Bay community,” Mayor Belot said.
“Our Councillors gain invaluable insight from these direct engagements, helping Council understand the challenges faced by our more remote communities and explore innovative ways to support them.”
Council encourages the community to join the next Councillor Catch Up at The Byfield Markets on 31 August, where residents can continue sharing ideas and feedback to guide Council’s work in enhancing services and infrastructure across the region.
