It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as Council rolls out this year’s Christmas decorations across Yeppoon and Emu Park!

Along the Yeppoon foreshore, sparkling lights and Christmas decorations have been installed throughout the iconic hoop pines along Yeppoon’s Anzac Parade, bringing a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the Yeppoon beachfront.

Emu Park is also shining brightly, with Christmas lighting now illuminating the entrance to the CBD and Bell Park. Mayor Adam Belot, who officially turned on the Christmas lights on in Yeppoon last night, said this year’s display was in direct response to what the community told Council they would like to see following last year’s Christmas season.

“Last year we received overwhelming public feedback calling for more Christmas cheer in the form of decorations and lighting across the Shire,” Mayor Belot said.

“We want to thank the community for sharing their ideas and enthusiasm. We’ve done our best to deliver some special lighting installations and decorations within Council’s available resources, and we’re delighted to see the Shire looking so bright and joyful.

“It’s been quite a few years since Christmas decorations have been displayed in our Shire, and we are very pleased to bring Christmas back to our communities starting with Yeppoon and Emu Park. Maybe next year Council can expand further to other localities as well, so let’s see what is possible then.

“The new decorations and lighting also complement the colourful wreaths and festive flags now flying proudly through the main streets of Yeppoon and Emu Park, helping create a vibrant Christmas spirit for locals, businesses, and visitors.”

These displays are just one part of the seasonal celebrations taking place across Livingstone.

“Council is once again proudly supporting the JRT Carols by the Beach on 14 December, along with the Summer on the Capricorn Coast program, offering more than 25 events and activities for families and visitors to enjoy throughout December and January,” Mayor Belot added.

“The Mayors Christmas Giving Tree will also be extended until 20 December to ensure that we can provide a little more Christmas spirit and generosity to those doing it tough in our community.

“Council encourages everyone to explore our festive town centres, embrace the holiday spirit, and celebrate a wonderful Christmas season together.”

Those who wish to donate to The Mayor’s Christmas Giving Tree Appeal will find Giving Trees located at Woolworths Yeppoon and Drakes Emu Park.

Your donation of unwrapped non-perishable food and toiletries will help bring comfort and support to local families doing it tough this Christmas.

The items needed most are practical essentials, so products like pantry staples and toiletries are most appreciated.
