Cap Coast kids spoiled for choice this spring school holidays
Published on 05 September 2025
Livingstone Shire Council’s much-loved school holiday program returns this spring with two weeks of free and low-cost activities designed to keep kids active, creative and connected.
With recent programs attracting strong attendance and quick bookings, families are encouraged to plan ahead—bookings open 12pm, Friday 5 September 2025.
The Spring on the Capricorn Coast line-up blends returning favourites with exciting new experiences. Families can look forward to Sandcastle Building Workshops on Yeppoon Main Beach, a free Movie at the Park at Coowonga, colourful action at Cricket Colour Blast, and live local music across multiple weekends with Tides & Tunes at Yeppoon Foreshore.
New additions include behind-the-scenes Coastguard Tours, a youth-led Great Barrier Reef Clean Up at Causeway Lake with Capricorn Conservation Council and Cap Coast Eco Warriors, Cartoonist workshops with acclaimed cartoonist Harry Venning visiting from the United Kingdom, and more.
Recreation and Culture Portfolio Co-Lead, Councillor Lance Warcon, said the variety and popularity of Council’s seasonal programs highlight how much families value affordable and engaging activities close to home.
“Each school holiday program is embraced by our community, with families often planning their calendars around the events on offer,” Cr Warcon said.
“These holidays are no exception. Alongside family favourites like craft workshops and storytime at the library, and exciting new additions such as boardgame designing and cartoonist workshops, this program has options for all ages.
“Our libraries will also be buzzing with daily activities, as well as a milestone First 5 Forever 10th Birthday Party and Storytime with Yeppoon Surf Life Saving Club.”
Among the school holiday highlights are two family stage shows — The Farmy Farm and the choose-your-own-adventure comedy Jon and Jero STUFF! — both set to delight young audiences with a high-energy mix of improvisation, physical comedy, and storytelling.
Capping off the program is the Livingstone’s Got Talent Grand Finale on Monday 6 October at Yeppoon Town Hall, where the Shire’s most talented young performers will take to the stage to sing, dance, act and showcase their unique skills. This spectacular showcase is free to attend (bookings essential) and promises to inspire and entertain as the community gathers to cheer on tomorrow’s stars.
Councillor Warcon said Council is proud to work alongside community groups, local organisations and volunteers to deliver such a diverse program.
“These holidays are about more than just entertainment. They’re about building connections, celebrating creativity, and making the most of our region’s incredible natural and cultural spaces,” Cr Warcon said.
