  • Marketing Assistant (3682)

    The Role

    If you are a creative communicator with a passion for communications, marking and digital media, an exciting opportunity has become available to join Council’s Communications Team as a temporary Marketing Assistant, in a maternity relief capacity, whilst covering for a valued team member on parental leave.  This is a dynamic role where you’ll help shape how we connect with our vibrant and growing community.

    As our Marketing Assistant, you’ll collaborate closely with a small, passionate team to support the delivery of engaging, informative, and timely communications across a variety of channels. Your work will play a pivotal role in ensuring our residents stay up to date with important Council news, services, initiatives, and community events.

    No two days are ever the same! Reporting to the Strategic Communications Lead, your key responsibilities will include:

    • Managing and scheduling content for Council’s social media platforms and moderating community interactions;
    • Publishing updates to Council’s website, including events and public notices;
    • Producing the fortnightly internal staff e-Bulletin;
    • Completing basic design tasks, ordering branded materials such as name tags and business cards; and
    • Monitoring the communications inbox and providing administrative support across the team.

  • Financial Accountant (3454)

    The Role

    This temporary fixed term opportunity is a maternity relief appointment, and you will cover for a valued team member on parental leave and will join a collaborative team that values accountability, teamwork, community, potential and positivity and we are now looking to appoint a qualified, professional Accountant to join Council’s accounting team.

    This position will act as a business partner to the wider organisation providing accounting support on a broad range of financial activities and candidates will have experience with financial statements and preparation of supporting documentation, and have a working knowledge of financial audit functions, Australian Accounting Standards and of relevant legislation. 

    The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualification and understanding of accounting principles, and demonstrable communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have a thorough understanding of financial practices and compliance along with exceptional customer service, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to effectively work as a member of a team.

    The Role

    Livingstone Shire council is recruiting for a permanent full time skilled trade qualified Carpenter to join Council’s Facilities Management team.  This role reports to the Supervisor Facilities Maintenance and  involves performing a variety of carpentry tasks, including construction, maintenance, and repairs of Council assets. The successful candidate will work on minor capital building projects and maintenance activities, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety at all times. Candidates will be required to demonstrate how their experience meets the position responsibilities and requirements as outlined in the position description.

    The Role

    Livingstone Shire Council is recruiting experienced casual Gardeners. Gardeners work in small crews and report to a Team Leader, and travel and work throughout the Livingstone region in our parks, gardens, reserves, and road reserves.  Your passion and creativity will enhance the regions streetscapes and beautify our parks for use by our residents and visitors to the region.

    • Candidates who have worked in a garden environment at resorts, caravan parks, motels and local government are strongly encouraged to apply.

    We are looking for candidates with 2 years or more experience, skills and knowledge in general gardening. If you have formal qualifications in horticulture that’s a bonus! Candidates must have a positive safety mindset and be situationally aware of surroundings. It doesn’t matter what job you are doing; safety is not negotiable.

    Gardeners operate large ride on mowers, whippers snippers, chain saws, blowers and other plant and equipment. You will have experience performing general maintenance/labouring tasks which includes spraying irrigation, mulching, planting shrubs and trees, including the application of pesticides to treat plant disease, weed and pest control within the scope of training and product knowledge.

  • Expression of Interest - Weekend Amenities Cleaner

    The Role

    Council is looking for experienced amenities cleaners to work weekend shifts. You will be engaged on a casual basis and will join a dedicated Facilities Services team who take pride in their community and the work they do, keeping public amenities clean and presentable for use by members of the community and visitors. There may be opportunities to work additional days/hours during the week to cover periods of leave.

    This position is responsible for carrying out a broad range of cleaning duties and no two days are the same. Cleaning public amenities includes but not limited to, sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays, taps, sinks, door knobs, drinking fountains, windows, and cleaning various elements of vandalism including special cleans and sanitising resulting from acts of vandalism, as well as cobwebbing and mildew control. 

    Candidates must have a safety mindset and think safety with all tasks, be customer centric, reliable, have attention to detail, be well presented and physically fit as this role requires manual lifting and the safe operation of high pressure cleaners, extendable equipment, vacuum cleaners and safely use chemicals.

    Cleaners have access to a job van and the van must be maintain the in a clean and tidy condition to allow for safe transport of people, products and materials to job sites.  You will have the ability to work independently and at various locations within the Livingstone region as required.
