Page 1 of your rate notice

  • The name and postal address of the property owner/s. Have you changed your postal address? Update your details.

  • This is the rates billing period for this rate notice.

  • The property details. Have the assessment number handy when contacting Council about your rate notice.

  • This is the share of the unimproved value which is determined by the Department of Resources. Council uses this valuation to calculate your general rate.

  • This is the general rating category allocated to your property. Council uses differential rating which means that the general rates charged are different for each land type and use.

  • A summary of your rate charges, including the balance brought forward, new rates and charges, gross amount, discount and total amount owing as outlined:

    • Issue date is the official date the rate notice was issued.
    • If Account balance shows a CR after the amount that means credit (payments you've already made to this notice).
    • New rates and charges for this half year. A detailed breakdown of the charges is on page 2.
    • Discount is the 10% discount which applies to gross Council rates and charges, excluding any charge specifically excluded from discount entitlement, provided payment of the full amount outstanding, including any overdue rates and interest to the date of payment is paid by the due date on the notice.
    • Total due is the gross amount minus the discount.
    • Due date is when your rates are due to be paid. If you are having trouble paying your rates, please contact Council before your rates become overdue and accrue interest.

  • Rate payers can choose to receive their rate and water usage notices via email. With the increased cost of postage and longer delivery times, this service provides a faster, more reliable, and environmentally friendly alternative to paper copies.

Page 2 of your rate notice

  • This shows if you have any arrears on your previous notice/s or if you have credit towards your current notice. A credit amount will show with a "CR" after the amount.

  • A detailed breakdown of the Council charges that apply to your property.
