Healthy Aging

Council encourages seniors to engage in active lifestyles and participate in community activities.
Embracing a proactive approach to maintaining health and activity as you age not only enhances well-being but improves overall quality of life, enabling individuals to remain active, engaged, and independent for longer period.

  • Council, in partnership with local groups and organisations, hosts an annual Seniors Month program which includes a variety of events across the shire.

This program celebrates the contributions of our seniors, focusing on the essential roles that older people play in our community and helping people of all ages, cultures and abilities to connect through a variety of events and activities.

  • Council's goal is to empower our older community members by communicating that they hold the key to healthy aging. LiveUp, a complimentary nationwide online guide for healthy aging, has been created by iLA, a not-for-profit organisation, with funding from the Department of Health and Aged Care.

LiveUp is a collaboratively designed resource that follows a wellness and reablement approach, empowering older individuals to take charge of their aging journey.

Upon completing a simple quiz, participants receive a summary of information and guidance regarding activities and support available in the Livingstone Shire area, options for assistive technology products, and straightforward tips for enhancing their daily living both at home and within the community.
