Livingstone Shire Council is proud to announce it has joined the @Home Program, reinforcing Council’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, and supporting residents to adopt practical, cost saving solutions for our local environment.

Delivered in partnership with councils across Australia, the @Home Program is an online education initiative designed to help residents build knowledge and capacity around waste reduction, energy efficiency, sustainable living, and community wellbeing.

Mayor Adam Belot said Council’s participation in the program demonstrated a proactive approach to creating a more sustainable and resilient Livingstone Shire.

“Council is committed to supporting our community to make informed, practical choices that reduce waste, lower energy costs and protect our natural environment,” Mayor Belot said.

“Council has been working closely with the Central Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (CQROC) to bring this initiative to the region and commends the organisation on its strong collaborative approach to support sustainable living practices across Central Queensland.

“The @Home Program connects residents with trusted experts offering a variety of solutions, making sustainability accessible and achievable for households across our region.

“Through this online program, our community has the opportunity to be equipped to take practical, cost-effective steps aligned with building sustainability champions, one module at a time.”

The program offers a series of live webinars and podcasts throughout the year, covering a diverse range of topics designed to suit households at every stage of their sustainability journey.

Development and Environment Portfolio Co-Lead, Councillor Pat Eastwood, said the program would provide practical tools and inspiration for residents.

“We know people want to make more sustainable choices, but sometimes they just need the right information and guidance,” Cr Eastwood said.

“The @Home Program brings advice directly into residents’ homes, whether it’s learning about solar and batteries, reducing household waste, designing more comfortable energy-efficient homes, or transitioning off gas.

“It’s about empowering people in their own postcode with solutions that are practical, achievable and beneficial not only for the environment, but for household budgets and wellbeing."

Upcoming program highlights include:
• February - New Year, Smarter Home – A live webinar with Finn Peacock exploring solar, batteries, EVs and smart technology.
• March – Living Well, Together – Expert sessions focused on building local connections and creating calmer, low-waste homes.
