Livingstone Shire Council is pleased to announce the completion of the Waru boundary fencing project, a collaborative initiative supporting the Capricorn Coast Landcare Group’s ongoing stewardship of this much valued community space.

Council contributed to new fencing at Waru, with additional green fencing works to follow as part of a revised design developed in consultation with Landcare.

Recreation and Culture Portfolio Councillor Andrea Friend, who first raised the motion for Council’s support, said the project reflects Council’s commitment to working alongside local community groups to enhance and protect valued spaces across the Shire.

"This project is a great example of how Council and community groups can work together to achieve practical outcomes that make a difference," Cr Friend said.

"Capricorn Coast Landcare do a fantastic job managing this site, and this new fence ensures their work can continue in a safe and supported environment.

"Landcare is at the heart of our community’s sustainability efforts, and Council is proud to support them with this fencing upgrade. It’s these small but significant projects that help our region thrive.”

Capricorn Coast Landcare Group will continue to manage the Waru site under their existing lease agreement, with the new fence helping to benefit their activities and long-term projects.
