Help shape the future of your Community!
Do you want to make a difference in your community and help the decision makers know what’s really going on? Do you have hands on experience with road construction and maintenance and are good at talking with people and understanding their concerns? Are you able to simplify complex issues into jobs that can actually get done. Do you like a balance of office based work and being out on the roads/in the community?
In this role you’ll be speaking with a wide range of Council departments and people from all across the region, all with very different points of views and experiences. To succeed in the role you’ll need to be great with people and understand the technicalities about building and maintaining civil infrastructure.
In this role you’ll work with a team of likeminded people and be well supported both day to day and with future development. You’ll use a variety of cutting-edge technology supplemented by your experience and knowledge to understand the real issues facing Council’s civil assets. You’ll then work with a team to paint the full picture of what the road network needs and help put future work plans in place.
What You’ll Do:
As a valued member of our team, you will:
- Investigate, assess and prioritise defects on roads and other civil infrastructure assets.
- Undertake bridge and level crossing inspections and assist with the development of forward works programs.
- Respond to customer requests and enquiries, providing technical advice and updates on infrastructure-related matters.
- Review, assess, approve and audit applications and third-party works within road reserves, including Gates and Grids, utilities and heavy vehicle permits.
- Conduct investigations, prepare technical reports and assist with insurance claim assessments and information requests.
- Assist with rural and urban addressing, asset naming, infrastructure data collection and asset management activities.
Your work will help ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our transport network — making a tangible difference every day.
What You’ll Bring:
- Demonstrated experience in the inspection and assessment of defects in roads and road related infrastructure;
- Sound knowledge of engineering standards, technical guidelines and industry practices relating to civil infrastructure construction and maintenance;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and stakeholder engagement;
- Bridge Inspection Level 2 certification in accordance with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Bridge Inspection Manual (BIM 2004), or the ability to obtain; and
- A current Construction Industry Induction (White Card) and a current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
