Coordinator Technical Services (3768)

Public Sector People are partnering with Livingstone Shire Council to recruit an experienced Coordinator Technical Services to lead specialist civil engineering functions across one of Queensland’s most diverse and fast-growing coastal regions. This is a key leadership role driving technical excellence, compliance, safety and service delivery within the Construction & Maintenance business unit.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager Construction & Maintenance, you will lead a team of Technical Officers responsible for specialist engineering assessments, statutory approvals, asset management support and civil infrastructure investigations.

This newly established leadership position plays a critical part in strengthening Council’s technical capability, improving consistency, and ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes for the community.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing Technical Services team.
  • Managing statutory and self-assessable approval processes for civil maintenance and construction activities.
  • Delivering specialist engineering assessments, including road safety audits, speed limit reviews, heavy vehicle permits and roadside hazard reviews.
  • Overseeing condition assessments, hazard identification and maintenance planning to support capital works programming.
  • Conducting civil infrastructure inspections and investigations across the Infrastructure portfolio.
  • Providing expert engineering advice to stakeholders, consultants, contractors and government agencies.
  • Developing and maintaining Quality Assurance systems, policies, technical procedures and reporting frameworks.

This role directly contributes to community outcomes by improving safety, asset performance and engineering governance across the shire.

About You

We’re seeking a collaborative and technically strong engineering leader with:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent, and RPEQ (or the ability to obtain it).
  • Demonstrated experience in Local Government engineering, infrastructure planning or civil operations.
  • Strong capability in leading technical teams and fostering a positive, accountable culture.
  • High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external environments.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Experience working within political, community-facing or regulatory environments.

We’re seeking a motivated Technical Officer to join our team and play an important role in shaping the infrastructure that keeps our community moving.

In this role, you’ll provide technical and administrative support across a range of transport-related activities, helping to ensure that works within the road reserve are planned, approved, and delivered to the highest standards.

What You’ll Do:

As a valued member of our Infrastructure team, you will:

  • Review, assess, and process applications and inspect works carried out by others in the road reserve.
  • Liaise with government agencies, consultants, contractors, and the public on matters relating to road reserve activities.
  • Liaise with members of the public, as required, to investigate customer requests, and provide information in relation to the status and/or conclusion of customer service requests for various transport and drainage issues. 
  • Investigate and prepare responses to enquiries and information requests in regards to Heavy Vehicle Regulation permits and works by utilities such as Ergon and Telstra.

Your work will help ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our transport network — making a tangible difference every day.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Qualifications relevant to the position (e.g. Associate Diploma of Civil Engineering) and/or extensive experience in municipal infrastructure design, construction, or maintenance;

The Role

Livingstone Shire Council is recruiting experienced casual Gardeners. Gardeners work in small crews and report to a Team Leader, and travel and work throughout the Livingstone region in our parks, gardens, reserves, and road reserves.  Your passion and creativity will enhance the regions streetscapes and beautify our parks for use by our residents and visitors to the region.

Candidates who have worked in a garden environment at resorts, caravan parks, motels and local government are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate their experience, skills and knowledge in general gardening. If you have formal qualifications in horticulture that’s a bonus! Candidates must have a positive safety mindset and be situationally aware of surroundings. It doesn’t matter what job you are doing; safety is not negotiable.

Gardeners operate large ride on mowers, whippers snippers, chain saws, blowers and other plant and equipment. You will have experience performing general maintenance/labouring tasks which includes spraying irrigation, mulching, planting shrubs and trees, including the application of pesticides to treat plant disease, weed and pest control within the scope of training and product knowledge.

Pre-employment Screening

Preferred candidates will be required to participate in and complete a successful Functional Capacity Evaluation and be willing to be immunised against Hepatitis A&B and Tetanus.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, it is mandatory that you have:

  • Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.

Expression of Interest - Casual Cleaner

The Opportunity

Council is looking for experienced cleaners on a casual basis for shifts Monday to Sunday, including public holidays. You will join a dedicated Facilities team who take pride in their community and the work they do, keeping offices, buildings and public amenities clean and presentable for use by employees, members of the community and visitors. Our casual cleaners must be available to support facilities operations and be able to work during periods of high workload, community events, and fill in for employees who are on leave.

The Role

Council is looking for Cleaners who demonstrate a teamwork mindset and think safety with all tasks. Being an effective team member is critical for this role, because working together achieves goals, efficiency, consistency and quality of work.  Whilst you are part of a team, you must be able to work independently and at various locations within the Livingstone region as directed.

Candidates are required be able to perform manual tasks safely and effectively due to the physical demands of the role. Responsibilities includes the safe operation of high pressure cleaners, extendable equipment, vacuum cleaners and safely use chemicals. You must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time, and capable to lift, carry and move equipment and materials.

This position is responsible for carrying out a broad range of cleaning duties and no two days are the same. Cleaning public amenities may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is an IMPORTANT job and includes but not limited to, sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays, taps, sinks, door knobs, drinking fountains, windows, and cleaning various elements of vandalism including special cleans and sanitising resulting from acts of vandalism, as well as cobwebbing and mildew control.
