The Love Livingstone Street Flag Contest has entered an exciting phase as public voting officially opens for the 30 finalists selected by a dedicated local judging panel.

A total of 124 entries of photography, paintings, illustrations and printmaking artworks that embody the essence of Livingstone Shire were submitted for the contest,  representing a diverse array of artistic talent from across our community.

Livingstone Shire Councillor Rhodes Watson expressed appreciation for the overwhelming response and outstanding quality of submissions received, extending gratitude to all entrants for their enthusiastic participation.

“It’s now time for the public to play a role in shaping the visual identity of our Shire," Cr Watson said.

“I encourage everyone to cast their vote and support their favourite designs.”

Entries for the Love Livingstone Street Flag Contest were open from 25 March to 19 April, inviting artists to submit their work under one of six themes reflecting Livingstone's rich tapestry: Nature, Active Living, Arts & Culture, Connection, Community and Resilience.

Following the submission process, a local volunteer judging panel meticulously reviewed the submissions to narrow them down to five finalist designs per theme.

"The quality and diversity of submissions we received is truly remarkable," said Cr Watson.

“It’s also great to see entries from residents of all ages spanning from Zilzie, to Farnborough, to Glendale and almost everywhere in between.

"I’d like to thank the judging panel for their dedication in shortlisting the finalists. It's clear that each design embodies the spirit of our community, so it wouldn’t have been an easy task to choose the finalists."

Voting is open until 5pm, Friday 3 May 2024, so don't miss your chance to cast your vote!

Following the voting period, the winning designs will be announced. The top selections will be featured on 30 street flags across Yeppoon, enhancing our civic centre and celebrating the creativity and talent of our residents.
