Livingstone Shire Council conducted its Declaration of Office meeting where Mayor Adam Belot and the six elected Councillors were officially sworn in, following the 2024 Local Government Elections.

During the Declaration of Office meeting, Mayor Belot and the six elected Councillors took their oaths, marking the beginning of their term.

Among the elected officials are re-elected members Glenda Mather, Pat Eastwood, Rhodes Watson, and Andrea Friend, who will be joined by newly elected members, Lance Warcon and Wade Rothery.

Mayor Belot was first elected to council in 2014 and has been Deputy Mayor since 2020.

Assuming the role of Mayor for the first time, Mayor Belot expressed confidence in the newly appointed team, foreseeing positive changes at the Council table, and emphasised the importance of community engagement.

“We have a vibrant and passionate community here in Livingstone, and Council is committed to ensuring that all voices are heard and considered on important community matters,” Mayor Belot said.

“Looking forward to the term ahead, it’s the collective responsibility of the Council to address the community’s needs and challenges. With a unified and resilient approach, the community will emerge stronger.”

Amidst the transition, Mayor Belot reassured the community that essential services such as waste management, water supply, and road maintenance would continue without interruption

“Furthermore, establishing strong relationships within the Council, across all levels of government, and with neighbouring councils remains a top priority for the newly elected officials,” Mayor Belot said.

“As the Livingstone Shire Council enters a new chapter, Council remains strongly committed to serving the community with dedication and integrity, striving for a brighter future for all residents.”

Council’s first post-election meeting will be held on Monday 8th April where Councillors will appoint a Councillor to the Deputy Mayor position and determine Council’s ordinary meeting schedule.
