The Community Centre

The Community Centre is a place for the community to access supportive information and to meet, learn and share each others skills and knowledge.

The Community Centre is partly funded through the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services. The centre provides residents with a public community hubspace that is safe, welcoming, vibrant, accessible, available to all and offers:

  • General information and referral assistance;
  • Outreach services;
  • Enhanced choices; 
  • Networking and social and social events; 
  • Participation in programs and activities that build skills; 
  • Affordable meeting spaces on a permanent or casual basis, and
  • Life long learning opportunities.
  • The dignity first washroom provides free and accessible use of a private washing machine, dryer, toilet and shower for any community member experiencing hardship. Monday to Sunday 6.00am to 3:00pm

  • Public Information Sessions

    Free public information sessions are held regularly on a range of general interest subjects during the day and at night. Check the current Community Centre Newsletter, check the Events Calendar or call us on 4913 3840 for details.

    User Group Meetings

    We encourage everyone participating in activities or groups at the Community Centre to come along to our bi-monthly User group meetings. Everyone is welcome.

    2020 meeting dates are; 17 June, 19 August, 21 October (in the Garage from 2.30pm-3.30pm)

    Rooms at the Community Centre are available for hire to individuals; community groups; clubs and associations; government agencies; businesses and visiting outreach services (not for profit).

    There is also a public noticeboard for promoting community events and activities. Fees and charges may apply.

    Australian Breastfeeding Association - Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast Group

    This group offers information and support to parents. It offers an opportunity to meet new parents, chat with mothers who have 'been there' and connect with trained breastfeeding volunteers. Groups are held in Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

    Playgroup

    Playgroups are informal and relaxed weekly get togethers of mums, dads, grandparents, carers, children and babies. At playgroup families have the opportunity to connect with other families in their local communities, to share parenting knowledge, seek advice and gain valuable support.

  • Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service - Women and Family Health

    Provides antenatal services, postnatal care, and child health services, including:

    • Birth preparation classes
    • Child health support clinics (Monday and Wednesday)
    • Child health drop in clinics (Thursday 9am - 1pm Yeppoon Central Shopping Centre)

    Rockhampton Community and Public Health - Maternal and Child Health

    Provides a range of community health and support services for families, free of charge. This multi-disciplinary team includes Child Health Nurses and allied health services. Services can assist with development assessments, parenting and health education, hearing screens, and referrals to allied health services.

    Provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. These services include:

    BUSHkids

    This service has been chosen as the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) partner for the delivery of the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) services in Rockhampton and surrounds.
