Seniors Month in Livingstone Shire
Connecting with one another has never been more important and for the first time, Livingstone Shire will be celebrating Queensland Seniors Month, 1- 31 October, with the theme Social Connections.
During the month people of all ages, cultures, and abilities will be able connect and celebrate the important and essential roles older people play in our communities. Seniors Week aims to provide opportunities for older members of the community to enjoy new experiences while learning about local services and support that is available.
In short, it’s going to be a connect fest!
Council has teamed up with a number of local groups and organisations to host over 40 events across the Shire, with a wide variety of activities on offer, including outdoor recreational activities, fashion, music, health and wellness and education.
Beginning on the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, the month will end on National Grandparents Day, 31 October.
An official launch for Livingstone Shire’s Seniors Month will be held in conjunction with The Oak Tree Expo on 8 October at Yeppoon Town Hall, where a number of information stalls and agencies will be on display.
Check out the full program of activities below, which includes the popular 'Come 'n Try' days. Hard copies are available at Council's Customer Support Centres and Libraries.
