Livingstone Shire is
in Central Queensland with an area of 11, 150 square kilometres and a
population of approximately 28,500 with about 11, 500 ratepayers.
The shire occupies the coastal peninsula between the Fitzroy River and Broadsound and services the communities of Stanage Bay,
Ogmore,
Marlborough, Yaamba, The Caves, Mt Chalmers/Cawarral, Joskeliegh, Keppel
Sands, Emu Park, Causeway, Byfield, Keppel Bay Islands and Yeppoon.
The entire eastern boundary of the shire covers many kilometres of
pristine and beautiful coastline embracing a number of untouched
tropical islands. The most noteable being Great Keppel Island.
Major industries
of the shire are Grazing, Pineapple Production, Fishing ,Tourism,
Forestry and Mining.
