Summary Report on Submissions to The Draft IPA Planning Scheme

The draft IPA planning scheme for Livingstone Shire was publicly notified from 5 March 2004 to the close of business on 4 June 2004 to comply with section 12, schedule 1 to the Queensland Integrated Planning Act (IPA).

In response to the notification of the draft planning scheme, Council received 487 written submissions.  Pursuant to the requirements of schedule 1 to the IPA, Council has recently finalised its consideration of and prepared representations on each submission. Council intends to respond to each submitter individually in due course with its representations on the particular submission.

In the meantime, the following summary has been prepared to inform submitters, and the general public, on the types of issues on which submissions were received and Council’s general response to such issues.

The summary is tabularized and comprises:

»       19 issue categories that generally cover all the grounds cited by submitters [refer below],

»       an approximate number of submissions that cited grounds within each issue category,

»       Council’s policy position in relation to the issue category expressed through the draft
         planning scheme as publicly notified,

»       if the issue category is subject of a State interest, and

»       provides a discussion and generalised representations for each issue category.

The generalised representations indicate Council’s policy direction that has been applied in responding individually on the grounds cited in each individual submission.
