Council wishes to advise that all Council offices, buildings and depots, including Libraries, Community Services Centre and the Community Development and Support building, will close between 2.00 and 5.00 pm on Friday, 7^th March, 2008 for a staff awards function.

FREE PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION  

“Mindfulness for Daily Living” at the Community Development Centre Rooms A and B, on Wednesday, 27^th February, 2008 from 1.00 to 3.00 pm.  Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.  Please phone 4939 4740.    

LIBRARY NEWS  

Monthly Storytelling for 5’s and unders:  continues at Yeppoon Library on Thursday, 6^th March from 10.00 to 11.00 am.  The theme will be “Easter”, stories, music and crafts for kids and carers.  No need to book, just come along.   

Baby Bounce  - another series of this popular weekly program of rhymes, rhythm and pre-literacy activities for babies aged under 24 months and their carers will recommence at Yeppoon Library from Friday, 29^th February from 10.00 to 11.00 am.  For more information phone Diana on 4939 3433.

RATE NOTICES  

Rates Notices are to issue 26 February 2008 and are due and payable by Tuesday, 1 April 2008 and may be recovered by legal process after this date.  

Ratepayers are reminded that the discount period will close on Tuesday, 1 April 2008 and payments lodged after this time will not be eligible for the 15% discount.  Rates payments can be paid at:

·         Administration Office, 70 Anzac Parade, Yeppoon 
  Monday to Friday during the hours 9:30am – 4.00pm

Ratepayers unable to pay the full amount of rates owing are requested to contact the Shire Office to make arrangements for a rate payment proposal.

The average daily water consumption for the week ended 19^th February, 2008 was 5.8 ML.

DOMESTIC ANIMAL POUND (BARPO) 
OPEN HOURS FROM 1^ST JANUARY 2007.  

As from 1^st January 2007 Council’s Domestic Animal Pound will be open from 8.00am to 10.00am Mondays to Saturdays.  The Pound will be closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.  

An appointment to release impounded animals outside the opening times may be made by contacting 4939 3388 during business hours and upon payment of the release fee and any other fee which may apply.

DOG REGISTRATION 2007/2008  

Dog owners in Livingstone Shire are reminded that dog registration and renewals are due on 1 September 2007 for the 2007-2008 registration year.  All dogs over the age of six months, except those animals kept in a Rural Zone under Council’s Planning Scheme, must be registered.  

Council is accepting payments from 1 September 2007.
