Emu Park
Emu Park the playground of the
1890’s was the watering hole of the the wealthy graziers, the MT
Morgan miners, and the sanctuary of the emus, brolgas, scrub turkey and
the kangaroo.
Past historic facts and items
have been collected and are displayed at the Historical Museum in Emu
Park.
There is also an Information
Centre where visitors and locals can be enlightened on the nature walks,
birdwatching, sanctuaries and fishing sites, and the camera enthusiast
can be guided to the scenic areas off the beaten track.
The QCWA, Lions Club and RSL
play an active part in this community as do QCWA Sunset lodge and Keppel
Community Care with the elderly residents.
Bell park is a popular place
for many picnics, the monthly markets, concerts and social activities.
Well known landmarks of Emu
Park are the Singing Ship memorial, King O’Malley and Coowonga
Memorial.
Sports play a big part in the
community with the local Surf Life Saving Club, tennis, council swimming
pool, bowls and golf clubs and sports oval along with several family
holiday camps.
Emu Park boasts its own air
landing strip, library and cultural hall.
