Our Mission

To recognise the growing needs of the Shire, and provide appropriate infrastructure and a high level of service.

In providing these services (Water, Sewerage & Waste Management) to the Community, the LSC is subject to stringent reporting & compliance with licence conditions. Your Council is proud of its record of liaison with the Environmental Protection Agency.

Community Consultation, via Public Meetings & Workshops, resulted in the determination of a Two Part Tariff for The Caves & Capricorn Coast Water Supply Schemes for introduction in the 2002/2003 Budget Year.

A Strategic Sewerage Plan for Yeppoon was commissioned in 2002, to determine needs for the next 20 years. A key component of the Plan will be the re-siting of the Sewerage Treatment Plant. Public Consultation will follow the release of the final report in early 2003.

Infrastructure

The past year saw the completion of

• two 4.2 Megalitre concrete reservoirs within the
   Cap. Coast Scheme

• design work to augment the capacity of the
   Woodbury Water Treatment Plant

• the upgrade of the Yeppoon Landfill Site

The Council encourages the Community to become aware of Water & Waste issues through The Water Wise Program & through tours of its facilities on Open days.
