Heavy Vehicle Alternate Route for Emu Park

The attached plan is a draft proposal for a light industrial/commercial precinct, vehicle by-pass and commuter link-road for Emu Park.

The heavy-vehicle by-pass and commuter traffic link-road will be routed along the western side of the Emu Park airstrip and join Scenic Highway near Ritamada Road.

The proposed heavy vehicle alternate route has come about due to many requests to develop a fully serviced light industrial /commercial precinct in Emu Park that would attract businesses and create jobs at the southern end of the coast.

Planning for future traffic management of the Emu Park CBD is also a high priority if Council is to maintain the village character of the town centre and provide for a safer pedestrian environment.

The initial plans combine both concepts with the heavy vehicle alternate route and the feeder link road is expected to take significant future traffic pressure off the Emu Park CBD area while providing service infrastructure for an expansion and upgrade of the light-industrial/commercial precinct.

Pro-active forward planning and securing long-term transport and commuter corridors will ensure that expected population, business and traffic growth is catered for.

It should be noted that this plan is a concept plan. If there is positive feedback Council will continue to the next stage which will encompass consultation with affected and adjoining property owners, preliminary design and investigation.
