  1. Opera in the Caves

    Opera Underground! Literally! The Underground Opera Company is pleased to announce their latest concerts at The Capricorn Caves, Rockhampton. The Cathedral is the show-piece of the Capricorn Caves and will provide the most unique, intimate opera and light opera concert you will have ever experienced, with some of the best voices you will have heard, in an environment you may never have seen. The Underground Opera Company was formed to provide regional centres of Australia with professional concerts in extraordinary environments, namely underground mines, tunnels and caves. This year the talents of National and International performers will travel to Rockhampton.

    BYO fabric scraps, papers, light card, scissors, threads, needles, pens, pencils & water-based paints. Create your own unique pages and entries using a variety of materials, and in ways that are both playful and personally relevant. In between workshops, reflect, generate ideas and develop your own way of journalling. Pages can then be bound in simple but beautiful ways. Petra Meer has over 25 years experience in facilitating, coordinating and teaching arts/health and wellbeing focussed workshops and projects and continues to exhibit her own work.

  6. "Live and Loopy" Family Show at Emu Park

    Livingstone Shire Council is hosting musician Linsey Pollak who returns to the Capricorn Coast to share his fun show ‘Live and Loopy’ at the Emu Park Hall. Linsey makes music by live looping instruments of his own making such as the saxillo, “Mr Curly”, the Rubber Glove bagpipe and a watering can clarinet. Using these instruments as well as voice, bubblewrap, jawharps, iPad and a carrot clarinet he cunningly creates layers of music so that the audience can enjoy the process of composition as well as the product of performance. The show is suitable for all ages and Tea/coffee/soft drinks will be available on the night.

  7. "Live and Loopy" Workshop with Linsey Pollak

    Experiment with creating music using loops. You can use voice or any sound-making object. Use “live looping” as a tool to become more comfortable with improvising. You will use your voice, your chosen instrument and found objects to create music individually and in groups...it’s as simple as counting 1,2,3,4..... It’s about organising sound in any way you want..and it’s fun ! Linsey Pollak is well known all around Australia and the world as a musician, instrument maker, composer and musical director. Linsey has a reputation for making and playing instruments made from found objects such as rubber gloves, carrots, watering cans, bicycles, chairs, brooms and rubbish bins.
