Highlights have included the opening of our fabulous new Yeppoon Lagoon and the first stages of the Emu Park Multi-sports, the completion and re-opening of the Scenic Highway at Statue Bay, further stages of the Emu Park Village Centre revitalisation, commencement of the new Capricorn Coast Memorial Gardens project, augmentation works to almost double the capacity of the Yeppoon sewerage treatment plant as well as final preparation works for the Capricorn Coast Homemakers Centre.
When we look back at what a Council of our size has been able to achieve both this year and in the years post TC Marcia the scale of the projects and the outcomes achieved have been quite extraordinary. It is certainly a credit to the huge team effort that our entire Council workforce and our private sector contractors have collectively put in.
It must also be noted that many of the our achievements would not have been possible without the partnership funding support we have receive from both the State and Federal Government.
In relation to the Council workforce I can honestly say from our executive leadership team to operational workforce that we have a Council that hits well above its weight when it comes to capability and service delivery. Their dedication and commitments to deliver the best possible service levels to the community across every sector of Council have been second to none.
It is fair to say not many organisations or businesses have the diverse number of essential services that a Council has the responsibility to deliver for its community and often with limited resources or recognition for the effort they put in.
For that reason I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you both personally and on behalf of our community to our entire Council team for your exceptional efforts.
In closing I would like to also thank the community for your support throughout 2018 and wish everyone a safe and merry Xmas as we look forward to a bright and exciting new year ahead.
