The latest round of the 2018/19 Livingstone Community Grants saw a total of 12 deserving community groups and sporting organisations each receive a share in just over $22,000 dollars to fund a broad range of projects to assist with community needs.

The Livingstone Community Grants programme, proudly sponsored by Livingstone Shire Council, Keppel Bay Sailing Club and Inverness Yeppoon, provides funding to community groups and sporting clubs to deliver innovative projects and programmes which respond to the needs of the local community.

Community Development and Support Councillor Jan Kelly said that these community grants are very important and help to ensure that local groups have the opportunity to improve their current amenities or to start new projects.

“Council is honoured to be able to provide these grants to eligible local community groups and is very happy to include grant money as part of their budget each year,” Cr Kelly said.

“This year a large number of applications were received and each organisation or club was successful. The range of applications covered grants that were required for upgrades, maintenance and new fixtures. The variety of applications brings a sense of community and provides a good morale within the local region.”

Keppel Bay Sailing Club CEO Julie Strudwick said the club was proud to continue to be a partner in such a vital community initiative that is beneficial to our community.

“These organisations provide a great deal of support and inclusion to many different sectors of our community and the groups selected each round all work so hard to make our region a better place,” Mrs Strudwick said.

Inverness Yeppoon Project Manager Alison Craggs said their company was extremely pleased to support the program and takes great pride in helping to provide grants to local organisations and clubs.

“We are very pleased to be able to contribute to the development of our local clubs by supporting this fantastic community funding program,” Ms Craggs said.
