Acoustic Guitar Spectacular Tour returns to the stage at Yeppoon Town Hall

A hand-picked group of internationally recognised acoustic guitarists from across the globe have joined forces to weave memorable musical magic into the stage show, Acoustic Guitar Spectacular which will return to Yeppoon Town Hall on Tuesday 24 July.

Internationally acclaimed Brisbane acoustic guitarist Michael Fix – recently named as one of Australia’s Top 25 Guitarists of All Time by readers of Guitarist Australia magazine – will be joined by high-energy Italian virtuoso Andrea Valeri and Queensland’s own funky finger-stylist Sarah Koppen for a series of very special concerts.

Their stunning show is structured so that each player will feature as solo artists, as well as performing as an ensemble, allowing plenty of opportunity for spontaneity and improvisation. Three players with such diverse musical backgrounds present amazing possibilities and incredible variety for audiences.

Each guitarist is known for their ability to entertain, and each present their music with a view to engage and delight audiences with stories, songs, and humour, (as well as fretboard fireworks!), making it a performance aimed for all people, not just 'guitar aficionados'.

Councillor for the Arts, Pat Eastwood said the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular Tour, produced by performing arts company Red Chair, was very well-received by audiences during their last visit in November, and encouraged music-lovers to experience the magic for themselves.

“It is fantastic to see regional areas like ours given the opportunity to enjoy great entertainment from world class performers like those in Acoustic Guitar Spectacular, which enhances and diversifies the arts and cultural scene we have to offer in Livingstone,” Cr Eastwood said.

This is a rare opportunity to see such a wealth of amazing musical talent on the one stage. In particular, it’s a unique chance to see one of the international young stars of the global acoustic guitar scene – Andrea Valeri.

A Fingerstyle Workshop will be conducted by Michael Fix at 5.30pm before the performance where he will share the art of fingerstyle guitar and explore the mechanics of arranging popular tunes in a variety of styles for the solo guitar. The workshop costs $10 and bookings are essential – go to www.livingstone.qld.gov.au/whatson BYO guitar.

Tickets for the show are $15 for Adults and $10 for Concession. Tickets can be purchased online at www.livingstone.qld.gov.au/whatson
